I am working in a group of 4, Myself, Megan, Gemma and Sarah. We have looked into many possible songs to use;
Kiss With a Fist - Florence and the Machine.
Put Your Records On - Corrine Bailey Rae
All Star - Smash Mouth
I Can't Dance - Genesis
Dance Dance - Fall Out Boy
We looked into the possibility of doing all of these songs and more. We then narrowed it down to two possible songs.
Photograph - Nickleback
When the Sun Goes Down - Arctic Monkeys
This is the song in which we decided on as a group to perform.
We then wrote to the Arctic Monekys and asked for their permission to use their song.
We decided after about a week that we didn't want to do Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down, and that we believed doing an 80s song. We thought to do this song because there would be a lot of things which could be done with the lyrics and beat.
Bryan Adams - Summer of '69
We then looked atalbum covers. To do this we went onto the google search engine and looked at summer album covers. These are the ones we found.
We chose these examples because they are very close to the ideas in which we have for our album cover.
We have had many ideas on what to do for our album cover.
We have had ideas of doing a beach shot, overlooking the sea with the sun rising or setting above it.
We have also thought about taking a photograph, of the band with their instruments, outside on the school field.
Making some of the colours stand out more than others has also been an idea. We got this idea from the above album cover of Paramore. The lead singer has been made to stand out by wearing different colours and also by her hair colour, where as the rest of the band are all wearing black.
But the main decision made by our group has been to make it colourful, either by making it black and white and pulling out certain colours to stand out or to just make the colours stand out more than normal.
We then looked at locations for the first part of our song. We decided that we are going to have shots of the band playing 'Summer of '69' first of all. Here are some of the locations we have in mind.
After finding these locations we then had to discuss the location itself and if it was going to be suitable for the shoot. We discovered that it might be an issue. The issue being that we may have many people in the background.
We then searched for another location and found this location.
We then researched weather, we were hoping to film on Wednesday 6th June 2011. This would give us chance to get everyone who we need at the same time.
